Frequently asked questions

⚠️ Dietary Restrictions & Allergens

Are gutBFF's products gluten-free?

gutBFF does not contain any ingredients that inherently contain gluten—such as wheat, barley, or rye. We exclusively use certified gluten-free, non-GMO oats and test every single batch to ensure we exceed FDA gluten-free standards.

Does gutBFF contain nuts?

Yes, all of our granolas contain tree nuts. The only flavor that contains peanuts is our Chocolate Peanut Butter granola.

Does gutBFF contain dairy?

No, gutBFF is 100% dairy-free across all of our flavors.

Is gutBFF vegan?

Because we choose to use premium, natural honey to lightly sweeten our granola, gutBFF is not considered vegan.

Is gutBFF safe for a low-FODMAP diet?

Because gutBFF is made from a rich, diverse blend of whole plant foods—including certain nuts, seeds, and natural honey—it is not explicitly certified as a
low-FODMAP food. Individual tolerances to specific prebiotic fibers can vary
greatly during elimination phases. If you are strictly following a low-FODMAP
protocol, we recommend reviewing our full ingredient list and discussing it
with your registered dietitian or primary healthcare provider to see how it
aligns with your specific dietary phase.

Is gutBFF safe for individuals with Alpha-Gal Syndrome?

gutBFF granola does not contain any mammalian meats, dairy, or mammal-derived ingredients. However, because our products are manufactured in a facility that may handle a variety of ingredients, we are not a certified Alpha-Gal-free facility. If you have been diagnosed with Alpha-Gal Syndrome, please consult your physician or allergist before introducing gutBFF into your routine.

What is Baobab?

Baobab is a natural, plant-based superfruit fiber.  This fiber acts as a prebiotic, meaning it nourishes the beneficial bacteria in your gut, helping them grow and stay strong.  A healthy balance of gut bacteria supports better digestion, reduced bloating, and even stronger immunity.

🧬Microbiome Science & Education

Is gutBFF a science-backed product?

Yes, gutBFF is a deeply science-backed product built directly on modern microbiome research. The core philosophy of our product formulation is based on the groundbreaking findings of the American Gut Project (the largest look at the human microbiome to date).

Their research indicates that individuals who eat at least 30 diverse plants per week have a significantly healthier, more resilient gut microbiome. While the average American only gets about 10 distinct plants in their weekly diet, gutBFF makes it effortless to close that nutritional gap by packing 20 diverse, plant-based ingredients into our premium granola blends.

Is gutBFF recommended by dietitians?

Yes! Registered dietitians—and particularly gut-health specialized dietitians—highly recommend gutBFF. Practitioners love that our granola delivers a high concentration of plant diversity and clean, functional ingredients while maintaining an exceptionally low sugar profile, all without sacrificing great taste.

Why is diverse fiber important versus single-sourced fiber?

Your gut microbiome is a complex ecosystem home to trillions of different bacterial strains, and different bacteria require different types of fuel to survive.

  • The Limitation of Single-Sourced Fiber: Relying on a single source of fiber (like a standard psyllium husk or inulin supplement) only feeds a tiny fraction of your gut microbes.
  • The Power of Diverse Fiber: Eating a wide variety of plant fibers—like the nuts, seeds, ancient grains, and adaptogens found in gutBFF—ensures you are feeding a broad spectrum of beneficial bacteria. This diverse nourishment is what builds a resilient gut, improves overall digestive health, and reduces bloating.
What is the difference between a prebiotic and a probiotic, and how do the benefits of gutBFF tie into this?

Think of your gut like a garden: Probiotics are the live, beneficial bacteria that you introduce to your gut (the "seeds" or "plants" in the garden). Prebiotics are specialized, non-digestible plant fibers that act as the essential "fertilizer" to feed and nourish those beneficial bacteria.

gutBFF functions as the ultimate prebiotic powerhouse. By delivering a diverse matrix of plant-based prebiotic fibers (like baobab superfruit, nuts, and seeds), it perfectly prepares the "soil" of your microbiome. When you feed your good bacteria with the ingredients found in gutBFF, you unlock the core functional benefits of our blend:

  • A More Resilient Gut: Our prebiotic fibers explicitly feed different beneficial bacterial strains, helping them grow, stay strong, and protect your digestive tract.
  • A Balanced Inflammatory Response: Feeding your microbiome properly supports the cultivation of antioxidant-rich foods that naturally help your body balance inflammation brought on by daily stress and diet.
  • Sustained Energy & Blood Sugar Balance: Unlike sugary foods that disrupt gut bacteria, our clean prebiotics, seeds, and superfoods supply steady, slow-burning energy.
  • Cognitive & Brain Support: A well-fed microbiome produces neurotransmitters that intentionally nourish and strengthen the vital gut-brain connection.
What is a synbiotic and how does gutBFF play into this?

synbiotic is a health product or food that strategically combines both prebiotics and probiotics to work together in harmony. By definition, a synbiotic provides the beneficial live bacteria alongside the exact food source those bacteria need to thrive, making the overall gut-health impact much more powerful.

How gutBFF plays into this: Because gutBFF delivers a highly diverse matrix of plant-based prebiotic fibers, it creates the perfect, nutrient-dense environment for any probiotics you consume. Pairing a serving of gutBFF with probiotic-rich fermented foods (like your morning yogurt or kefir) creates a powerful, natural synbiotic combination right in your breakfast bowl!

🌿Core Ingredients & Sourcing

Does gutBFF include synthetic or highly processed sugars?

Absolutely not. We never use refined white sugars, high-fructose corn syrup, or synthetic chemical sweeteners. We rely primarily on premium, raw honey and just a touch of organic coconut sugar to gently sweeten our granola. Both of these natural options are well-known to have a lower glycemic index, meaning you get a beautifully balanced, restrained sweetness without the dramatic blood sugar spikes or crashes.

Does gutBFF use "natural flavors" or artificial flavorings?

No, gutBFF does not use any mysterious "natural flavors," chemical additives, or artificial flavorings. We believe in total transparency and real-food nutrition. If you taste a specific flavor profile in our granola—such as peanut butter, crisp apple, or rich cocoa—it is because you are eating the actual, whole-food ingredient itself.

Does gutBFF granola contain seed oils?

No, gutBFF is entirely seed-oil free. We never use highly processed, inflammatory oils like canola, sunflower, corn, or soybean oil. Instead, we use pure, high-quality coconut oil as our single source of healthy fat to keep our granola light, crispy, and digestively friendly.

What is Lion’s Mane mushroom and why is it in gutBFF?

Lion’s Mane is a functional, adaptogenic mushroom celebrated for its powerful neuroprotective properties. We include it in gutBFF because of its unique ability to support the gut-brain connection. It acts as a cognitive booster, helping you maintain sharp focus and mental clarity, while seamlessly complementing our prebiotic ingredients to nourish your overall microbiome health.

What is Baobab?

Baobab is a nutrient-dense, plant-based superfruit fiber that acts as a powerful prebiotic. It essentially "feeds" the beneficial bacteria already in your microbiome, helping them thrive. A healthy, diverse balance of gut bacteria supports smoother digestion, reduced bloating, and a stronger immune system.

Does gutBFF contain GMOs?

Absolutely not. We are committed to clean, honest nutrition, which is why all gutBFF ingredients are strictly non-GMO and sourced from certified suppliers.

🥣 How to Use & Serving Guides

How much gutBFF granola should I eat in a day?

We recommend enjoying 1 to 2 servings per day of gutBFF. Consuming this daily acts as an effortless way to routinely "microdose" plant diversity, giving your body a steady, reliable head start on feeding a resilient, healthy microbiome.

What foods pair well with gutBFF granola?

Because gutBFF is intentionally low in added sugar and features a high concentration of premium nuts and seeds, it acts as an incredibly versatile culinary ingredient. Its crisp texture makes it perfect for adding a nutrient-dense crunch to both sweet and savory dishes.

While pairing gutBFF with yogurt, smoothie bowls, or cottage cheese is an obvious and delicious choice, our community loves getting creative! Here are a few unique ways to enjoy it:

  • Savory Salads: Toss a handful over fresh greens or a kale salad in place of traditional croutons for an instant, healthy crunch.

  • Healthy Pie Crusts: Crush the granola down to create a wholesome, low-sugar crust alternative for your favorite baked or no-bake pies.
How do I eat gutBFF granola?

There are no strict rules, but our community loves enjoying it a few favorite ways:

  • By the Handful: Eat it straight out of the bag as a clean, mid-afternoon energy pick-me-up or crunchy snack.
  • The Perfect Topper: Sprinkle it over your favorite morning yogurt, oatmeal, or smoothie bowl for an instant nutrient upgrade.
  • As a Clean Cereal: Pour it into a bowl with your choice of splashy plant-based or dairy milk.
Is gutBFF safe for SIBO, IBS, or other gut diseases?

Because every individual's microbiome and digestive sensitivities are entirely unique, we highly recommend that you consult with a medical professional or your gastroenterologist if you are actively managing SIBO, IBS, or other specific gastrointestinal conditions before adding new functional fibers or prebiotics to your diet.

Is gutBFF granola safe for children?

Yes! gutBFF is completely safe and wonderful for kids. Because we maintain strict standards for clean, non-GMO ingredients and keep our sugar profile exceptionally low, it serves as a highly nutritious, whole-food alternative to traditional, sugar-laden kid's granolas and cereals.
