Why plant diversity for gut health

What is the microbiome?

We evolved with our gut microbiome, a community of trillions of microbes that aid digestion, vitamin production, and immunity. These vital microbes need dietary fiber from plants to thrive. Over the past century, reduced fiber intake has led to a loss of up to 50% of gut microbiome diversity, impacting our health.

We need prebiotics from plants

Leading nutritionists and doctors recommend eating a variety of plants for prebiotics, which feed the good bacteria (probiotics) found in our gut found and in foods like yogurt. Probiotics love to consume prebiotics, producing compounds that support digestion, brain, liver, and immune health.

The magic number is 30 plants per week

Aim to eat at least 30 different plants weekly for gut health, including nuts, seeds, grains, fruits, vegetables, fungi, and beans. Whether you're herbivore or carnivore, adding diverse plants benefits you. Instead of counting fiber grams, make it fun by counting different plants at each meal.

Whoa but let's make it easy

In modern life it’s time consuming, expensive, and inconvenient to go get all those plants.  That’s  where gutBFF comes in.  Our mission is to make it easy for you to get 20 plants of your weekly 30 in one easy serving.  We spend the time foraging for the very best ingredients and create great taste and texture so you don’t have to!

So to recap...

It's up to us to take control of our digestive health. We need prebiotic fiber from at least 30 diverse plants per week to create healthy bacteria in our diet and drive our overall health. The easier and more convenient this is, the better given the stresses of modern life.
